What Makes Demandbase a Best Place to Work?

As a Human Resources leader in the San Francisco Bay Area, I know how difficult it is to acquire and retain top talent. Having a best in class culture is key to attracting the best and brightest minds in today’s ultra competitive hiring environment. At Demandbase we have made it our mission to invest heavily in culture to ensure that we are fostering a collaborative, passionate, transparent and flexible work environment.

As a result, I’m excited to announce that for the second year in a row, Demandbase has been named a Top 10 Best Places to Work by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal!  Creating an environment where our employees can grow and thrive has been a key element of our success as a company, so this recognition is extremely gratifying to our entire organization. But what is most gratifying about this recognition is that it comes directly from employee feedback—what they are saying about Demandbase.

At Demandbase, we have our share of great benefits and perks, including 100 percent paid health benefits for employees and dependents, wellness programs and a flexible vacation policy, but it’s our commitment to people, innovation and culture that truly makes us a Best Place to Work.  Over the years, we’ve worked tirelessly to create a culture based on trust and performance by focusing on four core values: Innovation, Customer Success, Execution and People.  We recognize individuals for their exemplification of these values with quarterly awards and have built them into our annual performance review process.

While it’s easy to offer superior benefits and great compensation, what matters more is fostering a performance-based culture where people are recognized for what they get done, not how many hours they spend in the office.  Our employees are rewarded for their ability to achieve meaningful goals that move the needle and impact the business at large.  These achievements are then highlighted at weekly town hall meetings led by our CEO, Chris Golec—which also serve as a public forum for employees to ask questions, address concerns and celebrate individual and departmental wins.  When employees feel like they’re contributing to the success of the larger organization, they’re more likely to do great work and feel connected to the community.

Community also plays an integral role in our culture.  We encourage our employees to participate in fun social events as well as events that give back to the community.  These activities range from baseball games and boat cruises to beach cleanups and food packaging events for families in developing countries.  Rather than have our HR team drive culture initiatives, employees manage offsite events and organize club activities through participation in our “Culture Club.” As a result, there’s something for everyone, from yoga and running to book clubs and weekly happy hours.
