The Passionate Vision That Created Demandbase One

In January of this year, before we had any idea what 2020 had in store, I met with Jon Miller, the founder of Marketo and Engagio, for coffee.

Almost immediately, we realized that we should merge Demandbase and Engagio. That the combination of our two companies would be a huge hit for our customers and propel the category to a new stage of growth.

Ten months later, we have a new platform—Demandbase One—which exceeds any dreams we had when we first met. It’s the first no-compromise B2B platform to address today’s immense B2B marketing challenges and complex customer journeys.

Everything was stacked against us during those early days.

A global pandemic. An economic meltdown. But we got it done for one reason: We shared a passionate vision for the future of ABM and, more broadly, B2B. We both felt that B2B technology hadn’t delivered on its promise. And that there was a new era forming for customers. One that combines the “engageability” of inbound marketing and the precision and targeting of Account-Based Marketing. One that brings together a single view of accounts and people. One that measures engagement on your website and the open web. One that tracks the entire buyer’s journey from anonymous research to evaluation to purchase and post-sale. One that unifies top-of-the-funnel digital tactics and middle- and bottom-of-the-funnel orchestrated actions. One that aligns Marketing and Sales outreach across channels.

That passion drove our teams to work around the clock to deliver something special, and that has been incredibly inspiring to see.

Our product and engineering teams took the best of Demandbase and the best of Engagio, the best of what’s been tested by hundreds of customers, and brought it together so that 1 + 1 = 5.

It’s a fascinating time of ever-accelerating change. We love serving B2B marketing and sales teams. And now we’re doing it as a new Demandbase, with a new leadership team, a new set of solutions, and an incredibly ambitious innovation roadmap that will build on the most complete ABM Platform available, Demandbase One.

Since joining Demandbase in 2012, I've been committed to setting the product and corporate strategy for the company. Throughout my two-plus decade career, I've held various leadership positions, including managing world-class customer service and sales teams at IDG and other leading publishers. I received my BA in Comparative Literature and Russian Language and Literature from Brown University.
