It has never been a more exciting time to be part of the Demandbase community. Our recent round of funding and industry recognition give me an opportunity to reach out to you about some of the successes, innovation and recognition Demandbase has seen over the past year. I also want to take the opportunity to touch on our vision of enabling customers to transform the way they attract, engage and retain their customers online.
In the last two years, the applications for our technology have exploded: from serving as a customer identification tool, to becoming intrinsic to the entire customer engagement lifecycle – giving businesses a 360 degree view of their customers’ activity across the web. Businesses are now able to use Demandbase in a more meaningful way, leveraging our technology to make ad targeting, content management, chat, CRM, analytics and other web services more intelligent, targeted and cost effective. While most marketing technology companies focus on one aspect of customer engagement, we stand out by providing a solution that drives efficiencies at every touch-point in the customer life cycle.
The factors underlying this incredible transformation are two fold: First, we’ve put our vision into action by building proprietary data and technology assets—around which we now hold two patents – that enable companies to identify existing and potential customers on their web sites and across the internet, and personalize and target experiences with laser precision. Second, as an extended team, we have established a collaborative vision fully executed by our talented employees and deep roster of partners across the marketing ecosystem including Adobe, Oracle, Marketo, Salesforce.com, Microsoft, Google, and dozens more.
In April, the company closed a $15 million financing round, led by Scale Ventures with participation by existing investors (Sigma West, Altos Ventures, Costanoa, Sutter Hill, and Adobe) to drive new innovations, scale selling operations, invest in new partners, and expand into new markets. This will include the expansion of our San Francisco headquarters, the addition of new U.S. locations and, ultimately, growth into Europe and Asia – the natural extension of our success considering 60 percent of our current customer base is comprised of global entities that have worldwide presence including brands like CSC, Microsoft, Deloitte, Comcast, HP, Adobe, Dell, and Cisco Systems.
Recent acquisitions and public offerings in the enterprise software space have brought B2B marketing and the changing role of cloud technology into the spotlight. And, the adoption of complementary technologies like advertising exchanges, marketing automation, and content management has dramatically increased the demand for a platform like Demandbase to tie it all together.
This widespread awareness and adoption, coupled with our continued groundbreaking technology, helped drive 100%+ revenue growth rates at Demandbase. Our advertising platform, launched last year to make it possible to laser target ads, is disrupting the marketplace and is expected to see over 400 percent growth in 2013.
Our collective efforts have not gone unnoticed; SF Business Times Tech & Innovation Awards, which honor the most innovative technology-based companies in the region, recently named Demandbase the most innovative advertising technology. JMP Securities also recognized Demandbase on its “Hot100” list for its 4th consecutive year. And all you need to do is pick up a Wall Street Journal or New York Times to read about the unique ways the Demandbase technology is being utilized. We’re honored that these influential organizations are acknowledging Demandbase as a leader in marketing technology, and I am proud of the innovation that led us here.
It is truly a thrilling time in the company’s history, and I want to express my immense gratitude that Demandbase has become a hub for such talented people. It is the dedication to our long-term goals by these employees — as well as our customers, partners and investors — that fuels our growth. And it’s clear that our commitment to innovation and genuine passion for customer success is shared by every one of the people that walk the hallways of Demandbase each day.
